7 common workout mistakes to avoid

Do you often feel disappointed for not getting the expected result even when you are working out regularly? No sign of even a single ab even after working out for hours :P. Don’t’ worry, you are not alone in this. It happens with many of us and I understand it can be very frustrating also. It might sound annoying but just sweating out is not enough. To get all the benefits of exercises, it is important to do them right too. We tend to do some very small workout mistakes which prevents us from achieving our goal.

Exercise on an empty stomach

The first and most common workout mistake is exercising on an empty stomach but let me tell you, doing so can infact prevent your weight loss journey. There is a fine line between eating too much and eating too less to have steady energy for a workout. Have a small snack at least 30 mins before you start your daily exercise. It will give your body much needed the energy to kick start your workout.

Not drinking water

Your body needs to be hydrated while working out but remember that does not mean gulping larger amounts of water at a time. It can cause stomach cramps or nausea so take 2-3 sips in every 15 to 20 mins. You can also include a black coffee in your pre-workout schedule. Generally also, drinking water at regular intervals is good for your health. You can use water alarm apps to help you avoid this workout mistake.

Repeating the exact workout every time

Not only do we get bored we the same routine, but our body also gets used to if we do the exact same exercise every time and stop showing results. This is one of the most common workout mistake that we do. Or sometimes we focus too much on just one body part for e.g abs.

Doing the wrong type of workout

It is important to understand your goals before deciding on the type of workout. Take the help of a professional trainer to design the right workout for you. Do not just start by looking at your friends, TV, internet etc. Random exercises will give you random results.

Incorrect postures

Good postures evenly distribute the forces of gravity on your joints, ligaments and muscles and help them in stabilizing the body. Sometimes we do exercises with extreme momentum just to finish the set and end up doing either wrong exercises or hurting ourselves. Some people take it very easy on themselves. You need to do serious exercises if you want serious results so focus on what you are doing and increase the quality of your every movement.

Cheating while exercising

 Doing half range of motion like half-squat just to get away with that workout will not give us the expected result. It is okay if you do 10 repetitions of a workout than 20 but do it accurately at your own pace. Quality matters.

Food

This is the most important part. If you are working out to lose weight, always remember it is 80% your diet and 20% workout. Look out for what you are eating and how much you are eating. You can start your food journal, note down whatever you are eating in a day. Do not think that you can eat anything since you are working out. If you want to lose weight you need to be honest with what you put into your body and how it can help/hinders your weight loss journey

These are some of the common mistakes that we do when we start working out. Make sure you do not do any of these.
